Capturing Quality Footage

Best practices for recording matches so your viewfoot clips stand out.

Equipment checklist

  • Use a tripod or fixed mount to keep the image stable.
  • Shoot in 1080p at 25–30 fps if possible. Higher resolution is helpful, but consistent framing matters most.
  • Carry spare batteries and memory cards so you never miss key moments.

Field positioning

  • Set up on the halfway line, elevated by 2–3 metres if the venue allows.
  • Capture the full width of the pitch while leaving room above the players’ heads.
  • Avoid filming directly into the sun; if unavoidable, adjust exposure manually before kick-off.

During the match

  • Track the ball smoothly without zooming excessively.
  • Anticipate transitions so you do not lose the attacking run or defensive recovery.
  • When recording for a specific player, keep them in frame but maintain enough context for recruiters to understand the team shape.

Audio & lighting

  • Ambient crowd audio is fine; avoid loud commentary near the mic.
  • Night games: check floodlights for flicker; adjust ISO instead of relying on digital zoom.

After the match

  • Review the raw footage quickly to confirm there were no recording issues.
  • Trim only if you need to split halves; viewfoot accepts long-form uploads and lets you annotate inside the platform.
  • Export or save in MP4 (H.264) for the fastest upload experience.

Great video quality helps recruiters trust what they see and makes your annotations more impactful.
