Match Annotation Guide

How players can highlight key moments with viewfoot’s annotation workspace.

1. Upload the right footage

Choose full matches or extended clips that show your impact. Supported formats today are MP4 and HLS. Keep individual files under 4 GB for smoother processing.

2. Wait for processing to finish

We transcode uploads for streaming but do not run automatic tagging. You will receive an email and in-app notification once the video is ready to annotate.

3. Plan the story you want to tell

List the situations you want recruiters to understand (pressing triggers, build-up patterns, defensive recoveries, etc.). A focused story is easier to follow than tagging every touch.

4. Drop timestamped annotations

  • Scrub to the exact moment and hit Add Annotation.
  • Select a phase label (attack, defence, transition, set piece) for quick scanning.
  • Write a 1–2 sentence note explaining the context, your decision, and the outcome.

5. Group clips into highlights

Create highlight groups (for example “Pressing Actions” or “Final Third Runs”) so recruiters can jump straight to the relevant sequences.

6. Review before publishing

Play back the annotated clips to ensure notes match the video and there are no typos. Unpublish any clips that feel redundant—you can always add them later.

7. Share and update regularly

Keep your annotations fresh by updating them after each new match cycle. Freshly annotated matches appear nearer the top of recruiter searches.

Tip: If you are not sure what to highlight, ask a coach or mentor to watch with you and suggest the most telling actions.
